N. G. TriMinh began painting at the early age of six. He attended the College of Art of Vietnam where he was recognized as the most outstanding artist in his class. Practicing and improving his technique, Triminh traveled throughout Europe painting. His paintings are attempts to portray the subtle beauty of nature, but not through realistic representations of nature itself. Instead, TriMinh sublimates the real world with the poetic heart of an artist and unites it with his inner self, thus creating a world that has a floating detachment from a realistic world, a direct, unpretentious clarity that gently entices the viewer to contemplation and meditation on the nature of things.

His works are both spiritual and sensual, and they are realized through the unity and balance of these qualities. Working from a nebulous composition without drawing, TriMinh activated the surface of the canvas to evoke palpable memories of reality. TriMinh considers paintings that successfully express the vital energy that exists within humans, more important than, works that merely reproduce an objective view of the external world.

TriMinh’s paintings are part of great public and private collections in Japan, Australia, France, Switzerland, Great Britain, Canada, United States, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Taiwan, Spain, Hong Kong, Greece, Brazil, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Mexico, Nepal, Tunisia, and Malaysia. In 1963 he received a grant from the United States Department of State, and recognized his as Vietnam’s most outstanding artist, and the most outstanding Asian artist to exhibit in the United States.

TriMinh has had numerous one-man and group shows since 1948. He Belonged to many artistic groups as well as being the president of the Viet-Nam Art Association. Domestically, he has works in galleries in New York City, Pittsburgh, Ithaca, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., San Francisco, and Dallas.
