A flattering portrait of Dyf’s wife, Claudine wearing a frilly lace top. Resting a hand on her cheek in the center of the frame, she looks downwards towards a book. A red-velvet looking tabletop occupies the bottom of canvas as the majority of the pieces is set against a sea-foam colored backdrop.

We wish to thank Claudine Dyf for kindly confirming the authenticity of this painting, which is registered in the Marcel Dyf archives under no. 1978.

Condition Report*:Original canvas. Rich impasto in very well-preserved condition. Older varnish and some surface accretions. Under UV examination the varnish shows as very uneven with unvarnished areas and varnished areas. A 2 inch x 1-1 /2 inch patch on the figure's neck/shoulder fluoresching under UV does not appear to be restoration but rather due to an artist's reworking. The brushwork there is fully consistent with the rest of the handling.
No evidence of restoration.
Framed Dimensions 27.875 X 24.25 Inches
